How big should my porch be? This is a question many of our clients ask us when considering the addition of a porch or screened in porch. Here at Archadeck of Central SC, we like to meet with our clients during the planning stages for any porch project. During this meeting, together we’ll determine the size your porch needs to be to accommodate all your needs.
A screened room or screened porch is very similar to a sunroom but rather than using glass windows we use fiberglass screens allowing the breeze to flow freely through the room, creating a space that invites the outdoors in.
Many Columbia-area homeowners have an idea of what they are looking for but may not know whether it is considered a sunroom, screen room, or an addition. Screen porches and sunrooms both allow you to enjoy the outdoors while avoiding unwanted elements of nature such as mosquitoes or rain. A sunroom or addition is an actual interior room and requires insulation and conditioning elements such as heating and cooling. Knowing how you will use the room and during which seasons you would like to utilize the space will help you decide which style best suits your family’s needs.

At Archadeck of Central SC, each of our screened porches is custom designed for the homeowners to blend seamlessly with your home and reflect your personal style, no matter how unique. Our porch designs reflect beauty, quality and extended enjoyment and add value to your home.

Interpretation is sometimes cloudy when it comes to screened porches and 3-season rooms. This is because these designations could be different, depending on where you live and even which builder you ask. In some parts of the country, you might find that builders consider screened porches to be 3-season rooms. At Archadeck of Central SC, we define them separately, but they are not mutually exclusive. We might also call a screened porch a screened room, outdoor room, or screened-in porch.
